Completing my first round of paid artwork is a super good feeling.
I was contacted by a man looking to enter a simple 2D platformer game into a contest about creative representations of statistical data. This was his first attempt at making a game, using tutorials online for the coding and a lot of Unity store assets.
The only thing missing: Unique backdrops.
He wanted images representing iconic sites from different Australian states to be used as a parallax- able backdrop - meaning also they had to have an alpha layer and had to fit specific dimensions. We discussed the possibilities, and eventually came up with Parliament House, Uluru, Port Arthur, and the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
In addition to the artwork, I also provided some simple consulting, answering questions about game design and Unity. All the contact was done via Skype.
Behold the final product:

These were painted using a combination of Photoshop and PaintTool SAI. Each took an average of two hours.
